If you’ve been following Midwest Cultivator, then you know they’ve been putting out some serious heat lately. After being impressed by their Swampwater Fumez, I had high hopes for Candy Fumez 6. Let’s just say it didn’t disappoint. This jar brings complexity, punch, and quality that reflects the kind of care you’d expect from a passionate hashmaker.
Strain: Candy Fumez #6
Company: Midwest Cultivator
Smell: There’s a lot going on in this jar, and that’s part of what makes it special. On first crack, I’m hit with a sharp gas that’s sweet but refined, almost candy-like with an edge. Underneath that, subtle hints of dough and chem start creeping in. It’s layered, loud, and surprisingly balanced for how aggressive the top notes are.
Look: The initial impression is striking: a sea of silver mist coats the jar, giving it an almost frosted appearance. But once you tilt it, the real magic appears a thick, greasy terp pool that slides slowly with the motion. It's a beautifully wet consistency that tells you this is premium rosin without needing to say a word.
Taste: Flavor-wise, this one is smooth and well-rounded. You get that doughy, gassy profile up front with a sweet kick that brings the “candy” into Candy Fumez. It doesn’t quite stain the palate like their Swampwater Fumez, but it’s still a top-tier experience. It reminded me of the Lou Bega by Baked Taters and Lost Leaf in both flavor and overall quality.
Smoothness: Super smooth on both the inhale and exhale, which was a pleasant surprise considering how heavy the flavor and nose were. That said, don’t get too comfortable this one packs a punch. A few fat pulls in a row and it’ll definitely remind you just how potent it is.
Melt: Compared to previous jars from Midwest, this one did run a bit darker in the melt. Not enough to raise concern, just an observation. It still burned clean, left a manageable residue, and didn’t affect the overall experience.
Overall: Candy Fumez 6 is another solid release from Midwest Cultivator. It combines depth of flavor with a powerful high and smooth finish. While it didn’t quite reach the mouth-staining peak of Swampwater Fumez, it’s easily a jar I’d keep in rotation. Midwest continues to show they’re one of the more exciting names in solventless in the region.
