Sour Flower Mac & Gary Baksetball with Sour Flower Mac & Gary Jars
Sour Flower Mac & Gary

When two powerhouse strains like MAC 1 and Gary Payton collide, you expect nothing short of a cosmic dab experience. Sour Flower took on the challenge with their Mac & Gary rosin a blend that promises the funk of MAC with the sweet-and-sour punch of Gary. With Sour Flower gaining traction among solventless enthusiasts, I was curious to see how this jar held up under the microscope (and the slurper). Here's my full breakdown of what worked, what lacked, and whether Mac & Gary deserves a spot in your cold cure collection.

Look: Mac & Gary by Sour Flower delivers a cakey, golden wheat texture that begins to sweat with a little agitation—almost like it's waking up as soon as it hits room temp. It has that fresh, soft look that invites you in.

Smell: MAC 1 immediately punches through the jar with its signature funk, but it’s followed by a sweet-and-sour finish that’s unmistakably Gary Payton. A nose-tingling mix that teases candy-like notes with gassy undertones.

Preferred Temp/Method: 520°F off a slurper was the sweet spot.

Taste: The flavor is where this one fell a bit short for me. While the inhale is smooth and subtle, the exhale gives a light Gary finish, but overall the terps don’t coat the palate as much as you'd hope. Flavor chasers might be left wanting a bit more.

Smoothness: This is where Mac & Gary shines an incredibly smooth dab with zero harshness, even when pushing the temps a bit. No pins. No throat sting. Just clean vapor all the way through.

Melt: It left a glazed, fiery hue around the welds of the banger. Not the cleanest melt I've seen, but certainly not a dirty one either.

Overall: While the taste didn’t blow me away, the smoothness and high more than made up for it. Sour Flower Mac & Gary is a strong choice if you're prioritizing effect and experience over terp saturation. I’d definitely try another jar from Sour Flower this one shows promise with the right genetics.
