Michigrown Jar with flower showing vibrant bright greens
Michigrown - Peel

This week, we lit up Michigrown Peel, a citrus-forward strain born from Skunk Tangie x Dosidos and to be honest, it surprised me in all the right ways. Where I braced myself for another rebranded “super boof” with hollow tangie notes, Michigrown Peel delivered sweet gas, vibrant citrus, and an OG-style punch that elevated the whole experience.

First Impressions: The smell greets you first deep orange tones with a sweet, candy-like core, more reminiscent of the inside of a mandarin orange than the peel itself. It’s not that superboof vibe most tangie strains bring. This is bright, inviting, and sweet, with just a whisper of OG funk in the background if you’re paying attention. Visually, Michigrown Peel stands out from some of the brand’s other flower. The nugs are medium to small in size, a little less dense than usual, but make up for it with wild color vibrant bright greens speckled with loud orange hairs that seem to shoot upward toward the tips of every bud.

Texture & Roll: The structure follows a similar pattern to other Michigrown offerings slightly crispy on the edges with a spongy, springy interior. Ideal for rolling by hand. I twisted up a 2.5g in king size wide papers with a 13mm rip-tip, and it gripped up just right.

Burn & Smoke: The ash is where Michigrown Peel shines. Not only is the burn stable and clean, but the ash stays a gorgeous pale white throughout, crowned by an oil ring that starts dripping early and stays heavy all the way to the ember. It’s picture-perfect flower that performs even better than it looks. The flavor? Complex and evolving. It starts off with a heavy sweet gas, but by the end of the exhale you’re hit with a bright citrus pop that transitions to something more rugged almost like a Biker Kush or Face Off OG finish. That bitter funk at the tail end makes this way more enjoyable than most simple tangie cuts that start strong but turn flat. If you’re tired of “orange” strains that promise flavor but feel hollow, this one actually delivers. Michigrown Peel has a story to tell in every hit.

Effects: Here’s where things got interesting. I went in expecting a zippy, citrusy head high. Instead? Michigrown Peel hit like a freight train. Despite its sweet, sunny flavor, the high leans heavy on that OG backbone body-loaded and mellow, without gluing you to the couch. It’s a good balance of bright mental clarity followed by a slow, creeping sedation. Definitely a nightcap strain if you overdo it.

Final Thoughts: Michigrown Peel proves that tangie-forward strains don’t have to be one-dimensional. With gassy sweetness, deep citrus complexity, and a punchy OG finish, this flower checks way more boxes than I expected. Between the burn, the flavor transitions, and the hybrid effects, this one earns its place as a high-scoring sleeper strain that feels both nostalgic and fresh.
