Company: Unrivaled
Every once in a while, you come across a jar that looks so inviting it practically demands to be cracked open on the spot. That was the case with Purple Ice Water by Unrivaled. This rosin caught my eye immediately and promised a straightforward yet satisfying experience centered around classic gassy cake terps. Here’s my full breakdown.
Look: The look of Purple Ice Water is absolutely gorgeous. Right when you crack open the jar, you're greeted by a platinum blonde rosin that practically glows. It has a sweet-looking texture that’s full of tiny terp pools dancing on the surface, giving it a decadent, glazed appearance that draws you right in.
Smell: This jar puts off a very direct, deep aroma of gassy cake terps. It’s not overly complex, but sometimes that straightforward terpene profile is exactly what you want. The scent promises a classic rosin experience that leans heavily into gas and cake without any surprises.
Taste: On the taste, this rosin delivered a muted but still pleasant experience. It leaned more toward a soft gas with a nice cakey body underneath. While I was hoping for a bit more intensity or mouth-staining richness, the flavor was still enjoyable — just more mellow than bold.
Smoothness: This is what I’d call average in terms of smoothness. It didn’t make me cough or instantly reach for a glass of water, which is always a plus, but it also wasn’t something I’d brag about as being silky smooth. For most dabbers, this is going to be a comfortably middle-ground experience.
Melt: The melt was impressive, leaving behind a lovely glazed strawberry hue. It’s always a great sign when a rosin cleans up well in the banger, and this one certainly didn’t disappoint in that department.
Preferred Method & Temp: Enjoyed this at 525ºF on a Victory Glassworks G4, which seemed to be right in the sweet spot to bring out those cake and gas notes without sacrificing the melt quality.
Overall: Overall, Purple Ice Water by Unrivaled is a very nice jar to keep around if you’re after a classic gas-and-cake profile with beautiful color and a pleasing melt. While it might not be the loudest or most complex on the market, it nails a straightforward, cakey-gas vibe that’s easy to come back to.
