Madhaus Detroit Muscle Rosin Review

In this Detroit Muscle Rosin Review, we take a look at Madhaus’ cross of GMO and Eastside OG BX. Known for dropping some heavy-hitting jars, this one had promise right out the gate based on lineage alone. But like any jar, it’s the full session that really tells the story—melt, smoothness, and flavor.
Look: At first glance, this jar looked like it might’ve had some wetness when packed, but upon cracking the seal, it was clearly crumpled. The texture was dry, which can be a red flag when it comes to smoothness. Still, it had a very appealing light blonde color, so hope wasn’t completely lost.
Smell: This is where the jar won me back. A strong, unmistakable GMO funk jumps out immediately, followed by a signature perm marker backend that I personally enjoy. If you've been around enough GMO-heavy rosin, you know it can come out on the drier side—which might explain the texture.
Preferred Temp/Method: 525ºF on a Victory Glassworks G4 slurper.
Taste: The GMO flavor held up well at first, delivering that signature onion-gas funk on the inhale. But halfway through, the flavor softened into a more muted set of terps—think pool water with a light GMO echo on the back end. Not terrible, but not fully satisfying either.
Smoothness: Unfortunately, this is where Detroit Muscle struggled. The hit was heavy on my lungs, and it took a bit longer than usual to recover post-rip. Not unbearably harsh, but definitely not smooth enough to call it enjoyable. Just right in the middle.
Melt: Surprisingly, the melt was better than expected given the dry look. It finished with a nice strawberry blonde hue and didn’t leave a ton of residue behind. Definitely a redeeming quality.
Overall: This jar of Detroit Muscle by Madhaus is a bit of a mixed bag. The flavor and nose hit right, especially up front, but the dry texture and less-than-smooth rip knock it down a few pegs. If you’re a GMO fan, there’s enough here to enjoy, but it’s probably not the jar I’d pull from the fridge first.
